Friday 15th July 2022 - EAE Business School Barcelona,
part of Planeta Formación y Universidades, held its Graduation Ceremony, with over 1,700 students from both Bachelor and Master program forming part of the graduating class 2021-22. The event was held at Palau Sant Jordi, with an audience of 3,000 personas. The ceremony also welcomed the CEO of Banco Sabadell, César González-Bueno, as the patron of the graduating class, and the President of Grupo Planeta, José Creuheras.
The patron of the graduating class, the CEO of Banco Sabadell, César González-Bueno, discussed the contracting model of companies, emphasizing that “the way that a company contracts its workers is an early indicator of the type of company it is, the kind of people who work there, and how stimulating it can be to work with a team with these characteristics”.
During his speech, the chief executive of Banco Sabadell also highlighted the importance of emotional intelligence as a “crucial factor for leadership”, adding that, since he has applied his emotional intelligence more effectively, his capacity for impact and leadership has improved.
Moreover, González-Bueno encouraged the new graduates to specialize in the thing that they like most, even though “hard work is the key. The people who make it furthest are the ones that make the most effort. But if you do something that you like, this effort will be far easier to make”.
“The way that a company contracts its workers is one of the most important factors, if not the most important, that defines its genetic code, made up of its strategy, culture and values. The reason is clear: the characteristics of the people you hire, as a whole, define the characteristics of the organization” explained González-Bueno. “If a company does not see its contracting processes as crucial and, as such does not approach them properly, the team will be made up of “unequal” colleagues. Some will be excellent, but others will not. The environment will be less stimulating”, he added.
The CEO of Banco Sabadell finished off his emotive speech by encouraging the new EAE graduates to “be happy, live full lives and contribute towards a better world”.
Meanwhile, the Dean of EAE Business School Barcelona, Enric Ordeix, highlighted the students’ capacity to become leaders after their studies at EAE. “Equipping you with the right tools and driving you to be the best leaders for an increasingly complex world is our mission and our greatest source of pride”.
After presenting the graduation sashes to over 1,700 graduating students. Three representatives from the graduating class, María Cecilia Cacavelos from the Master in Marketing Management, Sophie Klima, from the Master in Marketing Digital & E-Commerce; and Héctor Hormigo, from the Executive MBA came to the stage to give their speeches to the enthralled audience.
Another emotional highlight of the ceremony was a video comprising messages of congratulations from the students’ friends and families, particularly those who were far away and unable to make it to the graduation ceremony.
ACCOLADES AND AWARDS
The Graduation Ceremony also announced several accolades, such as the Top Recruiter Award, which went to Amazon, and the Strategic Partner Award, which was presented to the Barcelona Digital Talent Association. Another key award, voted for by a large number of the students, was for the top lecturers. This year the honour went to Kristen Berry and Carles Mur.
Lastly, the Innovative Initiative Award was presented to six students on the Máster en Emprendimiento e Innovación at EAE Business School Barcelona, who were finalists in Babson College’s Collaborative Global Student Challenge with their project “Vassie”: Fernando Mañá, Melissa Valence, Martha Castro, Carlos Rubio, Luis Figueroa and Rodrigo de la Piedra Schroth.
