The 5 finalists of the EAE Impact Awards promote sustainable development in society
EAE Business School recently took part in 4YFN, an event run alongside the Mobile World Congress (MWC), which showcased a number of startups and entrepreneurial ventures aligned with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The idea that took the crown at the EAE Impact Awards 2023 was the startup Bcome, devised by Alba García and Anna Cañadell, who are striving to revolutionize sustainable fashion in three dimensions: economically, socially and environmentally.
Bcome uses quality data as a decision-making tool to improve communication with stakeholders and consumers.
The winners will receive a grant to study at EAE Business School Barcelona, where they will have access to training on the Accelerator Digital Program and soft skills workshops. Moreover, they will have the opportunity to boost their visibility on social and other media, with an article in the Talent Alumni magazine and an interview on the Business Matter podcast on Spotify. In addition, the entrepreneurs will play an active role in judging the initiatives taking part in the EAE Entrepreneur program, where they will also have a great chance to network.
FINALIST PROJECTS
A total of 4 business ideas were presented, all of which focused on sustainable development in society:
Komunidad, a startup based in the Philippines that helps reduce our climate footprint using analytical software and climate data to provide tools to make decisions regarding climate resilience and sustainability. In addition, the startup works with governments and companies to promote the use of verified data and analysis.
ColorSensing, a Spanish venture, helps food packaging companies and retailers reduce food waste using a digital smart label that enables them to check various conditions that may affect freshness and ensure quality, thereby improving profitability.
Janajal, an app developed in India, facilitates access to drinking water in a country in which 95% of the population drinks water from unreliable sources. The objective is to provide safe drinking water based on a subscription model at an affordable price. This kind of initiative drastically improves the health of communities, as well as boosting productivity and generating jobs.
Hello Tractor, a venture from Kenya and Nigeria, is developing a system to give access to farming machinery to small producers across Africa, due to the limited current access, particularly in the case of women. Through the initiative, they are solving the problem of manual farming methods that generate low productivity and revenues. The app matches the supply of tractors with the demand, with users reserving machinery using GPS localization.
