EAE Business School Barcelona selects the 10 best female entrepreneurs in Catalonia in its EAE Top 10 ranking

- Elisabet Del Valle has been named as the top female entrepreneur in Catalonia with Onalabs Inno Hubs, which develops, manufactures and sells medical devices that monitor health using people’s skin and sweat.

- With all of the Top 5 female entrepreneurs operating in the health sector, this is clearly emerging as one of the most innovative areas that is most attractive to women looking to start their own venture.

- Technology, sustainability and gender equality are other entrepreneurship trends that feature in the EAE Top 10 ranking.

EAE Business School Barcelona, belonging to Planeta Formación y Universidades, has selected the best 10 female entrepreneurs in Catalonia in the second edition of the EAE Top 10 ranking, which aims to boost networking, enhance visibility and empower entrepreneurial ventures led by women in the Catalan region.

With the support of 86% of the jury, Elisabet Del Valle has been selected as the top female entrepreneur in Catalonia with Onalabs Inno Hubs, which develops, manufactures and sells medical devices that monitor health using people’s skin and sweat.

With all of the Top 5 female entrepreneurs operating in the health sector, this is clearly emerging as one of the most innovative areas that is most attractive to women looking to launch a business venture. Technology, sustainability and gender equality are other entrepreneurship trends embraced by the finalists of the EAE Top 10 ranking.

A total of 100 entrepreneurial ventures headed by women in Catalonia were put forward by the different organizations and institutions of the Catalan entrepreneurial ecosystem as candidates for the Top 10. The technical committee of EAE Business School Barcelona then preselected 16 female entrepreneurs from the candidates Lastly, the jury, made up of institutions, associations, organizations, business angels and journalists specializing in innovation, picked the top 10 female entrepreneurs and ranked them in order. The institutions on the jury include Acció, Barcelona Activa, Foment del Treball, Barcelona Tech, Barcelona Health Hub and Mobile World Capital, to name just a few.

In this second edition, both Elisabet del Valle from Onalabs Inno Hubs (Top 1) and Talía Bonmatí from DindongTech – DinBest (Top5) are former students of EAE Business School. Moreover, Judith Bayés from Tramit (Top 10) is currently taking the Executive MBA at EAE Barcelona.

This ranking is run within the framework of the Women Initiative of EAE Business School Barcelona, a project that fosters female leadership and boosts the personal and professional development of women by promoting equal opportunities and sustainability through different channels: research, impact, mentoring, training and connection.

EVENT TO MARK THE EAE TOP 10 WOMEN FEMALE ENTREPRENEURS

To mark Women's Entrepreneurship Month, on 21st November, there will be a ceremony to celebrate the achievements of the 10 finalists in the Ágora Hall EAE Business School Barcelona, attended by the jury, partner institutions, students on the Master in Entrepreneurship, staff and faculty members, and directors from the School. Moreover, during the event, EAE will present its pioneering survey on female entrepreneurship in Catalonia, with the aim of becoming the flagship study of reference on this topic in the region. The report has been developed with the support of 32 partners, including Acció, Foment, Barcelona Activa, Tech Barcelona, Pimec and Fabrik, among others.

THE 10 FINALISTS OF THE EAE TOP 10

This year’s Top 10 Women Female entrepreneurs in Catalonia are as follow:

TOP 1 - Elisabet Del Valle – Co-Founder of Onalabs Inno Hub
A company that develops, manufactures and sells innovative medical devices for monitoring people’s health in real time remotely, smartly and completely non-invasively using the person’s skin and sweat. This already patented disruptive technology enables biochemical parameters (such as lactic acid and glucose) to be measured through sweat, which could previously only be performed by extracting blood. This technology turns sweat into a smart bio-fluid and the skin into a data platform, making it highly useful for different fields, including remote patient monitoring, elder patients, neonatal care, sportspeople, etc.

TOP 2 - Marta Barrachina – CEO & Co-Founder of ADmit Therapeutics
An innovative technology based on massive parallel sequencing (NGS) with a machine learning approach that, based on a blood sample, enables a prediction of the probability of the progression of Alzheimer’s dementia in patients with mild cognitive impairment.

TOP 3 - Judit Camargo – Founder & General Manager of Roka Furadada
Roka Furadada® develops and markets a new generation of smart photosensitive nanomaterials that protect from sun radiation. ROKA Smart UV® PvB 360 is the first adaptive sunscreen on the market that adapts to the intensity of sun radiation, providing personalized UVA protection.

TOP 4 - Noemí Balà – CTO & Co-Founder of Aortyx
Aortyx is revolutionizing the field of aortic implants with an innovative family of biomimetic, bioresorbable patches that promote the natural repair of the aorta, sticking to the vessel wall and integrating with the body tissue.

TOP 5 - Talía Bonmatí – Founder & CEO of Dindong Tech - DinBest
Telemedicine company specializing in human (Plug&Health) and animal health (Dinbeat). The system allows animals to be monitored without the need for sedation and veterinary hospitalization, as well as monitoring people who are far from medical care, reducing the need for travel and providing crucial support for humanitarian organizations in emergency situations.

TOP 6 - Katrina Walker – CEO & Founder of CodeOp
CodeOp is a social company that focuses on tackling gender imbalance in the technological sector through high-level technical training, in collaboration with public administrations, NGOs and companies. This Bcorps-certified company is based in Barcelona and has operations in Brazil and Malaysia.

TOP 7 - Françoise de Valera – Co-Founder of Pack2Earth
An R&D&I company that sells sustainable materials for the circular economy. It has developed two biodegradable materials for the packaging industry that are compostable at room temperature: a flexible film and an injection material suitable for packing dry products and semi-liquids with a long lifespan, and even certain liquids. These materials can be used to manufacture packaging materials, such as trays and other moulded containers, including glasses, for both food and non-food products.

TOP 8 - Mar Masulli – CEO & Co-Founder of Bitmetrics
Bitmetrics develops its own technology based on artificial intelligence and vision and robotics to automate vision-based processes for industry and logistics. It gives eyes and a brain to robots so that they can work in changing environments that require the real-time adaptability of a person. Based on image analysis, also in real time, they automate complex quality controls, optimizing efficiency while also eliminating human error and guaranteeing the thorough application of the set criteria without any scope for personal interpretation.

TOP 9 - María del Camino Calleja García – Co-Founder and CMO of YUP
Parking solutions for sustainable and connected urban micro-mobility. Car parks with a charging system for personal mobility vehicles (PMV) with scooters and bicycles, that organizes and charges the PMVs, while lowering carbon emissions in city centres.

TOP 10 - Judith Bayes Cadena – Founder & CEO of Tramit Smart App  
Tramit is a tool that enables members of the public perform administrative procedures with local administrations 24/7 from anywhere. It expands the option of digitalizing processes with a mobile phone, the most commonly used device, making local administrations (right down to the smallest ones) far more intuitive, efficient and successful.
