EAE Business School Barcelona gives recognition to Catalonia’s female entrepreneurs in the EAE Top 10 Ranking

Carla Gómez Cano was named as the year’s best female entrepreneur in Catalonia, with her startup Theker Robotics

Wednesday 20th November 2024 – Yesterday evening, EAE Business School Barcelona, which belongs to Planeta Formación y Universidades, held an event in the Ágora Hall at its Calle Aragó campus to present the 10 finalists of the third edition of the Top 10 Female Entrepreneurs in Catalonia ranking, which aims to give recognition to and raise the visibility of women who, through their entrepreneurial ventures, innovate, develop solutions for the needs of the market, and generate value for society. The event was attended by several members of the jury, who presented the awards to the winners.

In this third edition, Carla Gómez Cano was named as the year’s best female entrepreneur in Catalonia, for her startup Theker Robotics, which tackles the global need for workers to do dangerous and repetitive tasks, by producing robots that replace them, focusing primarily on waste management.

“I would like to thank EAE Business School Barcelona for organizing this initiative that boosts the visibility of female entrepreneurs. I would also like to congratulate my colleagues for this achievement”, explained the winner as she received the award from Elisabet del Valle, the top entrepreneur in the previous edition of the awards, for Onalabs Inno Hubs.

The entrepreneurs who made it into the top 10 in this edition are Meritxell Teixidó (Gate2brain, 2nd), Esther Riambau Gascó and Isabel Puig Borrell (Oniria Therapeutics, 3rd), Maribel Bergés Fraile (Affirma Biotech, 4th), Beatriz Mesas López(Incapto, 5th), Sonia Hurtado and María Cermeño (Poseidona, 6th), Maria Lluch Senar (Pulmobiotics, 7th), Isabel Huber Ruano and Sonia Fernández Veledo (Succipro, 8th), Cristina Corchero García (Bamboo Energy, 9th) and Sara Orra (Trioteca, 10th).

At the event, on behalf of the jury, the CEO of Barcelona Health Hub, Eva Rosell, underlined “the importance of bringing together Barcelona’s hubs to work together with a strategic vision of the future and an international outlook”.

As well as the technical committee of EAE Business School Barcelona, the jury included members from institutions, associations and organizations such as Acció, Barcelona Activa, Foment del Treball, Tech Barcelona, Barcelona Health Hub, Barcelona Finance Hub, Attico Lab, Mobile World CapitalPimec, Zona Franca, Fundació La Caixa, the Barcelona Chamber of Commerce and the Girona Chamber of Commerce, among several others, as well as business angels and journalists.

PRESENTATION OF THE OBSERVATORY OF PROFESSIONAL WOMEN

The event also included the presentation of the conclusions of the Observatory of Professional Women, published by EAE Business School, based on the opinions and perceptions of over 800 professional women between 20 and 60 years old, all of whom are university graduates living in Barcelona, Madrid, Valencia, Seville, Bilbao and Zaragoza, with the aim of understanding and tackling the causes of gender inequality in the business world.

The Dean of EAE Business School Barcelona, Enric Ordeix, welcomed the audience to the event, with the Vice-Dean and Women Initiative Ambassador, Chelo Morillo, sharing a few words to bring the evening to a close.
