Within the framework of Talent Week 2024 at EAE Business School Barcelona, the School, which belongs to Planeta Formación y Universidades, held a new edition of its Talent Talks entitled Challenges in Talent Management. Organized to coincide with the publication of the 7th Barometer by EAE Business School and DCH, the event brought together Human Resources professionals and experts from different sectors to explore current and future challenges and trends in business talent management.

Moderated by the Director of the Master in HR at EAE Barcelona, Maite Moreno, the event provided a platform for dialogue on the main challenges currently faced by companies. The employment paradigm has been shaped by the increasingly widespread use of artificial intelligence, Generation Z joining the workforce, new leadership styles, specialized talent acquisition and selection processes.

The need to adapt to the new generations and retain their talent has become a priority challenge for big companies. Cristina Robledillo, the Global Director of Talent Acquisition, Employer Branding and Diversity at Mango, shared her insights into the key to retaining young talent: "Young people want to feel valued and listened to, regardless of their previous experience. It is crucial for companies to adapt to these expectations and offer a culture that reflects its values".

Moreover, attracting young female talent is an area for improvement identified in big technological companies, as the number of women graduating with telecommunication engineering degrees is falling, explained Virgili Callizo, the Director of Strategic People Projects at Cellnex. "At Cellnex, we focus on attracting diverse talent, rather than just young talent. We look for candidates with shared values, passion and curiosity". To achieve this, the company offers training and courses to generate interest and promote the diversity of talent in the sector.

From Grupo Planeta, Javier Arróniz, the Director of Human Resources, underlined the importance of adopting an integrated approach to talent management at the event: “We emphasize the importance of leadership that embraces a comprehensive vision of talent management. It is not simply the responsibility of the HR Department, but rather of the whole company”. Arróniz went on to explain one of the group’s fundamental values: "A curriculum tells a story. Ultimately, the aim of a selection process is to determine whether my story and  yours are compatible, and whether our combination generates value for you as a candidate and me as a company. For a company, it is essential to have a team that identifies with the company, fits in and shares its values”.

Marta de Llauder, the CEO at Talent Point, highlighted the fundamental of technology in optimizing talent management process. "Technology enables us to be more efficient and reach a wider audience. Companies have to adapt to the preferences of the new generations and offer attractive programs that foster learning and growth".

Alegría Alonso, the Manager of EAE Barcelona’s Professional Impact Unit (PIU), brought the event to a close by underlining the importance of personalization and continual growth in professional development. "It is essential that candidates know how to express who they are and connect with their purpose. Personalization and growth are key factors in professional success".
